Budget limits and escalation
Intric has a budget governance model built around billing groups. For each group, an appointed billing group administrator can configure two types of thresholds that control what happens as consumption approaches or reaches the budget.
Soft limit
Section titled “Soft limit”When a user reaches the soft limit, an automatic notification is sent to both the user and the billing group administrator. This acts as an early warning signal, so you can make cost adjustments before the budget is spent.
Hard limit
Section titled “Hard limit”When the hard limit is reached, the user is immediately blocked from consuming further tokens, to prevent unforeseen cost increases. Both the user and the billing group administrator are notified of the block.
Temporary extension with an “extra amount”
Section titled “Temporary extension with an “extra amount””To handle critical business needs without raising the budget limit for the entire group, the billing group administrator can grant specific users an extra amount. This temporary extension lets the user continue their work for a limited time. At the start of the next period, the extra amount resets and the user returns to the billing group’s configured budget limit.
This feature ensures a balance between strict cost control and operational flexibility.
