Roles in Intric

Every role at organization and Space level, what each one can do, and how the two levels combine.

Intric has two levels of role. Organization roles — User, Creator and Admin — decide what you can do across the platform. Space roles — Space Viewer, Space Editor and Space Admin — decide what you can do inside one Space. Your effective permissions are the combination of both.

Every person in Intric holds exactly one organization role. Within any Space they belong to, they also hold exactly one Space role — which can be different in every Space they’re a member of.

  • Admin — full access to the administration area. Responsible for global settings, security classifications, user management, and billing.
  • Creator — can create Spaces, build and publish assistants, and manage knowledge in the Spaces they belong to, in addition to everything a User can do.
  • User — can use assistants shared in the Spaces they have access to, and use their personal assistant.
  • Space Admin — the highest permission level within a specific Space. Decides the Space’s security classification, administers its members, and can create and edit any assistant in it.
  • Space Editor — can create and edit assistants, and connect knowledge, in this Space specifically, without needing the organization-level Creator role. Can’t administer members or change the Space’s classification, and needs Space Admin approval to publish.
  • Space Viewer — can use assistants published in the Space. Can’t change settings or create anything. Every organization User is automatically at least a Viewer in a Space they’re added to.

Your organization role sets a floor: a User is always at least a Viewer wherever they’re a member. A Space Admin can then grant someone Editor or Admin rights within their own Space, regardless of that person’s organization-level role. A Creator elsewhere in the platform might be only a Viewer in one Space. A User, meanwhile, could be made a Space Editor in another.

Role Level Can view Can create / edit Can publish Administers
User Organization Assistants shared with them
Creator Organization Everything a User can Spaces, assistants, knowledge in their Spaces Assistants (subject to Space role)
Admin Organization Everything Everything Everything Users, classifications, billing, platform settings
Space Viewer Space Published assistants in the Space
Space Editor Space Everything a Viewer can Assistants, knowledge, in this Space Requires Space Admin approval
Space Admin Space Everything Everything in this Space Everything in this Space Members, classification, of this Space

A billing group admin is a role scoped to one billing group rather than to a Space or the whole organization — it manages that group’s limits, credit and members. See Billing groups.

Change a person’s organization role from Users, and their Space role from that Space’s Members list. Changing your own organization role away from Admin removes your own access to the administration area, so Intric warns you before you confirm it.
