Deleting a model

Remove a model from your organization, choose what replaces it, and what happens to the assistants, widgets and personal assistants that use it.

Removing a model takes it out of your organization. If assistants or widgets use the model, Intric first asks what should take over, so none of them stops answering. A catalogue model goes back to the catalogue and you can add it again later. A custom model is deleted permanently.

Remove a model and choose its replacement

  1. Go to Admin → Platform → Models.
  2. Open the model’s actions menu and select Remove.
  3. Check the dialog. It shows how many assistants and widgets use the model, and in how many Spaces. If nothing uses the model, the dialog says so and Remove takes it out. You’re done.
  4. Under Replace with, choose a curated pick such as Balanced, or switch to Specific model and choose one from the list.
  5. Select Replace and remove. Intric moves every one of those assistants and widgets to the replacement and then removes the model.

The same dialog opens when you select Remove on an added completion model in the Add model dialog. Assistants and personal assistants show the new model straight away, without reloading the page.

  • A completion model can be replaced by a curated pick or by a specific model. A transcription or image model can only be replaced by a specific model.
  • The dialog only offers replacements that meet the security classification of every affected Space.
  • If an affected assistant or widget uses tools, the dialog only offers models that support tool use.
  • If the model you remove is the organization’s default, the replacement becomes the default.

A widget can’t be set to a curated pick. Intric moves it to the model that pick chooses in the widget’s own Space.

If a personal assistant uses the model, or it is the default model for personal assistants, the replacement you choose takes over for them too. It has to meet the security classification set for the default personal assistant, and support tool use if personal assistants have tools or image generation.

Every personal assistant keeps the model it was created with, even while users aren’t allowed to choose their own. The dialog can therefore ask for a replacement when model selection is turned off.

A Space whose security classification the removed model already fails doesn’t limit your choice. The dialog says how many assistants in such Spaces stop working and how many widgets there switch to a default model.

Those assistants move only if the replacement meets their Space’s classification and supports the tools they use. Otherwise they keep the removed model and need a new one before they answer again. A widget whose model its Space can’t use falls back to a model that supports tool use and meets the Space’s classification, when there is one.

A removed Intric model isn’t deleted. It moves back to the catalogue, and you can add it again later.

A custom model is deleted permanently, once Intric has moved everything that uses it to a replacement. Intric won’t delete a custom model that an app uses or that has been used in a conversation, or one that an assistant keeps because the replacement doesn’t meet its Space’s classification. The dialog then shows an error and nothing moves. See Custom models.
