UKÄ higher education

Throughput, establishment, retention, social background, mobility, teacher education and finances across the Swedish higher education sector, plus SCB base data.

Sector-level indicators for Swedish higher education — how many finish, how many stay, who they are and what it costs — with the underlying student and degree counts alongside.

The Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ) publishes indicators about the sector. This integration carries them in a local store that is refreshed nightly, and adds live queries to SCB’s statistical database for the base data: students, full-time equivalents, degrees and new entrants.

That split is deliberate, and the integration reports which side an answer came from.

  • “How has throughput developed in this subject area over the last five years?”
  • “What does establishment on the labour market look like after this kind of degree?”
  • “Compare social background across these programmes.”
  • “How many new entrants did teacher education have last year?”
  • “What does the sector’s economy look like, by institution?”
Function Answers
Usage guide Which of the two sources answers which question — the assistant reads this first
Harvest status How current the local UKÄ store is, measured rather than assumed
List indicators Which UKÄ indicators exist to be queried
Query indicator The figures for one indicator, filtered
Search Indicators and tables matching a keyword
Browse SCB SCB’s database structure
SCB metadata What an SCB table contains before asking for figures
Fetch SCB data The base data itself: students, full-time equivalents, degrees, new entrants
  • Public statistics. Nothing about your organisation passes through.
  • Read-only.
  • Two freshness models. UKÄ indicators come from a store refreshed nightly; SCB data is fetched live. The harvest-status tool exists so the assistant can state which, rather than implying everything is current.

Add the MCP server to an assistant and ask.

  • Aggregate statistics. Nothing here is about an individual student.
  • Sweden only.
  • The UKÄ side can lag by up to a day, and rather more if a nightly harvest failed — which is exactly why the harvest-status tool is there and why the usage guide tells the assistant to check it before presenting a figure as current.
  • Indicators are constructed measures. “Establishment” and “throughput” have specific definitions set by UKÄ; a figure read without its definition is easy to misread.
  • UKÄ and SCB figures may not be directly comparable, being produced on different cycles and sometimes different populations.
