Eurostat

Over 9,000 Eurostat datasets on the EU member states — economy, employment, population, health and environment.

The EU’s statistical office, with the two lookup tools that make its dimension codes usable — because a Eurostat query fails on the code, not on the question.

Eurostat publishes comparable statistics across EU member states. This integration browses and searches its catalogue, reads a dataset’s structure, and fetches figures filtered by country and period.

It also carries two small tools that exist purely because Eurostat is coded rather than named: one resolves a country to its geo code, the other resolves a dimension value to the code the API expects. Without them, a well-formed question still returns nothing.

  • “Compare youth unemployment in Sweden, Finland and Italy since 2015.”
  • “Which datasets cover greenhouse gas emissions by sector?”
  • “What dimensions does this dataset have, and what values can each take?”
  • “Give me a quick preview of this dataset before I ask for the whole thing.”
  • “What is the geo code for Czechia in this dataset?”

Get data The figures, filtered
Preview data A small sample, to check a query before pulling the full series
Find geo code The code Eurostat uses for a country or region
Look up dimension codes The code a dimension value maps to

  • Open data, no key. Nothing about your organisation passes through.
  • Read-only.
  • Live. Answers come from Eurostat at the time of the question.

Add the MCP server to an assistant and ask.

  • EU and associated countries only.
  • Codes, not names. Asking for “Germany” without resolving the geo code returns nothing rather than an error that explains itself. The usage guide tells the assistant to resolve codes first, and this is the most common way a Eurostat question fails.
  • Comparability has limits. A series can change definition or coverage mid-way; Eurostat flags this, and a figure read without its flags can mislead.
  • Recent periods are often provisional, and some member states report later than others, so the latest year in a series may be incomplete for some countries and not others.
