Outlook

This content is not available in your language yet.

The Intric Outlook integration lets you read and search your emails directly in AI conversations. Once connected, you can ask an assistant to find messages, summarise threads, and surface relevant information from your inbox — without leaving Intric.

The integration is read-only. Intric can never send emails, reply to messages, or modify anything in your mailbox.

When the Outlook integration is enabled on an assistant, the assistant gains the ability to:

  • Search your inbox — find emails by sender, subject, keyword, or date range
  • Read email content — retrieve the body of an email and reason about its contents
  • Browse recent messages — list recent emails in your inbox or a specific folder
  • Read attachments — extract text from supported file types attached to emails

The assistant decides which of these actions to take based on your question — you don’t need to navigate your inbox yourself.

When reading email attachments, the assistant supports the following file types:

  • PDF (.pdf)
  • Word documents (.docx)
  • Excel spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx)
  • PowerPoint presentations (.pptx)

Other attachment types can be identified but their contents cannot be read.

Before you can use Outlook in a conversation, you need to connect your Microsoft account:

  1. Go to My Integrations on New Intric (v4)
  2. Find the Outlook integration and click Connect
  3. Sign in with your Microsoft account and approve the requested permissions

Once connected, any assistant with the Outlook integration enabled can access your mailbox on your behalf.

Your personal permissions apply: Intric only accesses your own mailbox. Shared mailboxes or other users’ inboxes are not accessible through this integration.

Section titled “Admin consent and organizational requirements”

Access to mailbox data via Microsoft Graph requires the Mail.Read permission, which Microsoft considers sensitive. In organizations where Entra is configured to restrict user consent to third-party apps — which is common in security-conscious environments — an administrator must grant consent before any user can connect.

If you see an error when trying to connect, or the Outlook integration does not appear in My Integrations, contact your Intric administrator and refer them to the Outlook setup guide.

You don’t need to specify commands or navigate manually. Simply describe what you’re looking for in natural language. For example:

  • “Find the email from Anna about the contract renewal”
  • “Summarise the last five emails from the legal team”
  • “Do I have any unread emails about the product launch?”

The assistant will search your mailbox and retrieve the relevant messages, then summarise or reason about the content for you.

  • Read-only: the assistant cannot send emails, reply, forward, or make any changes to your mailbox
  • Your mailbox only: the integration accesses your personal mailbox; shared mailboxes are not supported
  • Attachment types: only PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint attachments can be read; other formats are not supported
  • Email body only: inline images and embedded media within emails cannot be read
  • Admin consent may be required: in organizations where user consent to third-party apps is restricted, an Entra administrator must first grant consent (see the setup guide)

To disconnect, go to My Integrations and click Disconnect next to the Outlook integration. Intric will immediately stop accessing your mailbox. Your Microsoft account and emails are unaffected.

If you have also connected SharePoint, Teams, or OneDrive, those connections remain active and are managed separately. See Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
