MediaWiki search
Search any MediaWiki-based wiki and read the pages directly in the conversation.
One tool, one job: find and read wiki pages without leaving the conversation.
What it is
Section titled “What it is”A generic connection to any wiki running MediaWiki — the software behind Wikipedia and a great many internal wikis. It searches the configured wiki and returns the matching pages.
This is the smallest integration in the catalogue, and deliberately so. It does one thing, which means there is nothing to learn before using it.
Use it for
Section titled “Use it for”- “What does our wiki say about the incident management process?”
- “Find the page on this and summarise it.”
- “Is there anything on the wiki about this system?”
| Function | Answers |
|---|---|
| Search | Pages on the configured wiki matching a query, with their content |
A single tool. There is no usage guide, because there is no call order to explain.
Data and permissions
Section titled “Data and permissions”- Read-only. Nothing is edited or created on the wiki.
- One wiki per deployment, set at configuration time.
Getting started
Section titled “Getting started”Point the integration at your wiki’s API. Talk to your Customer Success Manager — a public wiki needs nothing more, while a private one needs its access arrangement agreed first.
Limitations
Section titled “Limitations”- Search is MediaWiki’s own. Results are as good as the wiki’s search index and its page titles, and there is no semantic layer on top — a question phrased differently from the page may not find it.
- No page history. The current revision is what comes back; who changed what, and when, is not part of this connection.
- Permissions are whatever the configured access allows, applied uniformly — not per user asking.
- It reads, it does not write. Correcting a wiki page still happens on the wiki.
