CSN statistics
Swedish student finance statistics — grants, loans, study debt and repayment claims — from CSN's open PxWeb database.
Student finance figures straight out of CSN’s own statistical database, so a question about study debt or grant uptake is answered with the published series rather than an estimate.
What it is
Section titled “What it is”CSN is the Swedish board of student finance. It publishes its statistics as open data through a PxWeb database, and this integration queries it directly.
The connection is stateless — nothing is indexed, nothing is stored, and there are no credentials involved.
Use it for
Section titled “Use it for”- “How has the number of students receiving study grants developed over the last ten years?”
- “What does study debt look like by age group?”
- “How many people are receiving the transition study support, and how has that changed?”
- “Find the table that covers repayment claims, and show me what dimensions it has.”
| Function | Answers |
|---|---|
| Usage guide | How to find a table and then query it — the assistant reads this first |
| Key tables | The tables worth starting from, without browsing the whole tree |
| Browse database | The database structure, level by level |
| Table metadata | What a table contains: its variables, values and time range |
| Fetch table data | The actual figures, filtered to the variables and period asked for |
| Search tables | Tables matching a keyword |
Data and permissions
Section titled “Data and permissions”- Open data (CC0), no key. Nothing about your organisation passes through.
- Stateless. No index, no cache, no stored query history.
- Read-only.
Getting started
Section titled “Getting started”Add the MCP server to an assistant and ask. No configuration.
Limitations
Section titled “Limitations”- Aggregate statistics only. Nothing here is about an individual — CSN does not publish person-level data and the integration cannot reach any.
- Sweden only.
- A table has to exist. If CSN does not publish a breakdown, the assistant will say so rather than derive one.
- The metadata step matters. Asking for a cut a table does not carry returns an error, not an approximation.
