How an assistant works
To get the most out of Intric, understand how the platform is built. Instead of just having a single “search box,” Intric works as a flexible toolkit where you as an organization can adapt the technology to your specific tasks.
In Intric, there isn’t just one “AI chat box”—you as an organization can create multiple different Assistants that become experts on different tasks based on how they’re built.
The personal assistant
All users in Intric get access to their own Personal Assistant. It serves as users’ daily companion for general questions, email drafts, or quick summaries. Set it to be fast and enable web search to fetch up-to-date information.
Specialized assistants
Beyond the personal assistant, your organization can create an unlimited number of specialized assistants. It could be a “Procurement Assistant,” a “Legal Expert,” or an “HR Support.” These are built to solve specific tasks with high precision.
The library analogy - how an assistant works
To understand how these assistants are built and work, without getting too technical, use this library analogy.
- Language model (The librarian): Each assistant has a librarian as its “engine.” Some librarians are extremely well-read and fast (good for the personal assistant), while others are more reflective and thorough (good for complex legal questions).
- Knowledge (The books on the shelf): What makes an assistant an expert are the “books” (documents and data) we give it access to. The personal assistant might only have its general knowledge and a search engine. A specialized assistant, however, gets its own bookshelf filled with your organization’s internal policies, guidelines, or agreements.
- Instructions (The job description): Give the librarian specific instructions on how to behave. An assistant can be instructed to be a “strict proofreader,” while another should be a “creative workshop leader.”
By combining the right librarian (language model) with the right books (knowledge) and a clear job description (instructions), you create assistants that are precise digital colleagues.
