Attachments and Knowledge

Knowledge and attachments specify which information the assistant should use as a basis when generating its response. Attachments work as an extension of the prompt and provide additional instructions, for example important guidelines the assistant should take into account when generating its response.

Knowledge is a collection of data connected to Intric, which the assistant retrieves information from when answering questions. To connect knowledge to the assistant, the knowledge sources must be made available in the assistant’s Space.

Attachments = Instructions

See this as an extension of the prompt.

  • Documents that the assistant should always take into account in every response.
  • Examples: Communication policy, brand guidelines, “Best Practice” templates.

Knowledge = The library

A library that the assistant goes to to search for answers to specific questions.

  • Examples: Employee handbook, project reports, web pages.
  • NOTE: You must first upload the knowledge to your Space (see chapter 4) before you can select it here in the list.

In the video clip below, learn the difference between Attachments (instructions) and Knowledge (fact bank). See how you practically connect collections and websites to make your assistant an expert on your data.
